Once the way in which a person learns is better understood, the clinicians of Red Ladder Optimized Learning may be in a better position to provide focused interventions aimed at optimizing learning.

Treatment

During treatment, a psychologist works to help a client or patient to understand his or her challenges more fully, and to make best use of strengths to compensate for these. Treatment may help a person to find optimal solutions to problems. Special procedures or techniques may be used, depending on the situation, and on-going testing may be given to evaluate progress. Treatment lasts a very short time, or over a longer period, depending upon a client's needs and preferences. Forms of treatment include:

  • Group Treatment. Although most private psychological practices provide individual counselling and family therapy, few have been able to offer group-based treatment of learning-related difficulties. Red Ladder Optimized Learning offers group-based treatment for children, teens, and their parents for such issues as:
    • Dealing with anxiety
    • Managing ADHD
    • Improving self esteem
    • Managing anger
    • Developing social skills
    • Building organizational skills
    • Managing stress
  • Individual counseling and coaching
  • Psychotherapy
  • Family Therapy
  • Parent training and coaching, which is often an invaluable part of helping children and teens. Parents learn how best to support their children at home and how to communicate with their child's school most effectively at school and advocate positively for their child.

Other Interventions
  • Referral and Liason. Red Ladder Optimized Learning will provide referrals to and can be a liaison with medical doctors, occupational therapists, reading clinicians, speech and language clinicians, audiologists, optometrists, and tutors.
  • Consultation. When it is appropriate and useful for us to provide opinions about a client's situation to a school, workplace, or government body, we do this, but only with a client's permission except in very exceptional circumstances. Our opinion may relate to client's receiving special support in school or a health benefit from an insurer, or may support a disability claim, to name a few examples.
